Creating Futures

Curriculum - Middle School

At CVC we have captured a wealth of experience and knowledge from educators across the world to understand how young adolescent children learn and establish how in the 21st century, we can best create your child’s future. The work of students and staff in the Middle School is based around an integrated curriculum. This innovative curriculum combines the outcomes from the eight Learning Areas (English, Maths, Science, Society & Environment, Health & Physical Education, Art, LOTE, Technology & Enterprise) with core values, critical learning and thinking skills. It is designed to enable students to progress at their own level and achieve to the best of their ability in a motivating and “real life experience” way.

Our care system centres on the family group of 25 students. The role of each family group teacher is to get to know your child and you as their parents very well.  As one of your child’s specialist subject teachers and being in close contact with each of your child’s other teachers, they have a good view of your child’s progress and offer support and guidance where needed. Our flexible classrooms and teaching programs enable a variety of class groupings catering for individual instruction and small group work to much larger groups for lecture situations. Our student to teacher ratio never exceeds 25:1.  Your child will have access to specialist Home Economics, Design and Technology, Science and Performing Arts areas. However, our curriculum strength is the special emphasis on teaching our students to think effectively and using real life problems to demonstrate their understanding across a number of subjects. Students leave middle school well prepared for the rigors and expectations of senior schooling.
